These chicken strips are delicious and a healthy alternative to breaded and fried chicken tenders. The strips are crispy on the outside, yet incredibly juicy. This is because it is coated in a small amount of mayo. The spice mix in the coating also adds amazing flavor to the chicken!

The other great thing about this recipe is that the chicken us very easy to prepare. Simply toss all of the ingredients together, and then cook in the air-fryer. This makes these chicken strips a fantastic Super Bowl snack because you won't need to take much time cooking. Therefore, you can focus on the game, or the half-time show!

How to Make Chicken Strips Without Breading

While the full recipe instructions are available below, here are some tips to make the best healthy chicken strips for game day!

  • First, cut the chicken breasts into strips. You want to cut them into uniform sized pieces. This is important, because it will help the chicken to cook at the same time.
  • Now, mix the mayonnaise with the spices. To keep the calories down, I generally prefer to use half-fat mayonnaise. You can use full fat mayonnaise if you prefer.
  • Next, coat all sides of the chicken strips with the mayo and spice mixture. I usually toss the strips in a medium-sized mixing bowl with the sauce to coat all sides.
  • Finally, spread the chicken strips in the tray of the air-fryer without touching. Cook the strips at 400F for seven to eight minutes. Flip the strips over and cook for another five to six minutes, until they are cooked through. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!

If you do not have an air-fryer or you prefer to cook your chicken strips in the oven, bake them in a preheated oven at 400F for fifteen to twenty minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts (approx. 2 large), cut into strips
  • 1 tbsp half-fat mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and spices to form a paste. Toss the chicken with the mayo-spice paste to coat all sides of all strips evenly.
  2. Place in the air-fryer in an even layer without touching. Cook at 400F for 7 to 8 minutes.  Flip the chicken strips and cook for another 5 to 6 minutes at 400F, until cooked through.
  3. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
