Raspberry Comsopolitan

When I started my articles to become a CPA and working downtown, I envisioned my life being similar to Carrie Bradshaw's.  I dreamed of fancy clothes and cocktails at exclusive locations with girlfriends.  Boy was I wrong!

While life as an accountant may not be as glamorous as an episode of Sex and the City, I can make a round of cosmos with my friends and pretend!  I took a twist on the classic comso to use the raspberry vodka I infused a couple of weeks ago.  The results were better than I expected.  The raspberry gave it a refreshingly sweet flavor that complemented well with the cranberry juice.

How to Make the Best Raspberry Cosmopolitan

While the full recipe instructions are below, here are some tips to make your best cosmopolitan:

  • Lemon Juice: because there are very few ingredients that make up this cocktail, it is important that you use fresh lemon juice.  The fresh juice adds more flavor to the cocktail and the acidity helps to balance out the sweetness of the raspberry and cranberry.  To get the most juice out of your lemons, I recommend microwaving them for 20 to 30 seconds.  Next, you want to roll them on your counter a few times to get the juices running.  Finally, you cut them in half and squeeze out the juice.  Be careful, the lemons may be hot out of the microwave! Let the juice cool before making the cocktails.
  • Ice: to make sure you make your cocktails cold enough, it is important to add a lot of ice to your shaker.  I always seem to add too little, so it takes more ice than you think!
