My favorite veggie side dish is these crispy brussels sprouts. Unfortunately, the most common way this flavor is achieved is by rendering the sprouts in duck fat which is obviously not healthy for you at all. These air fryer brussel sprouts  are awesome because they achieve that same great crunch and flavor without the fat!

This is a great dish to sneak those cruciferous veggies in to your weeknight dinners. Everyone will love these crispy sprouts - it is my new favorite way to prepare these veggies!

What is an Air Fryer?

An air fryer is essentially a mini convection oven. It is a countertop appliance that has a powerful fan that blows hot air on your food from the top. The major advantage of using an air fryer is that you use far less oil than conventional frying methods. It is the perfect way to make this healthy side dish!

The other advantage of using an air fryer is that it heats up very quickly. This reduces your cooking time drastically because you could have finished cooking your dish in the time it would normally take your regular oven to preheat!

In my opinion, this is one of the best air fryers - it is the one I use at home and I love it! I also love to use these air fryer parchment sheets for dishes that have more of a batter that can get stuck to the air-fryer basket.

What Do I Need to Make This Brussels Sprouts Recipe?

One great thing about this recipe is that you only need a handful of ingredients. You can also easily add other simple ingredients to change the flavor of these tiny cabbages!

How to Make the Best Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts

While the full recipe instructions are available below, here are some simple steps to make this quick side dish.

  • First, we will prepare our brussels sprouts. Wash them and remove the outer leaves and then cut in half. For large sprouts, cut into quarters. To make your sprouts nice and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a little crunch, you will need to soak them in a large bowl of water. Be sure to soak them for only ten minutes. Longer than this and it will make the sprouts soggy. Once they have soaked, remove from the sprouts from the bowl and dry off any excess moisture.
  • Toss brussels in a dry bowl with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. The great thing about using the air fryer is that you will not need much oil! Place brussels sprouts in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook them in the air fryer at 375 degrees F for approximately eight to ten minutes, until golden brown. Toss them half way through the cooking time to ensure they are crisped evenly.
  • Once cooked through, remove from the air fryer and sprinkle with parmesan cheese to serve. Trust me, this simple side dish will be the star of the show!

Crispy Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients

  • 1 lb brussels sprouts, washed and halved or quartered
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp shredded parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Soak brussels sprouts in warm water for 10 minutes. Remove from water and dry to remove all excess moisture. Toss sprouts in a dry bowl with olive oil, salt and pepper until well coated.
  2. Place sprouts in an even layer in the air fryer basket. Cook at 375F for 8 to 10 minutes, tossing the sprouts half way through. You will know that the sprouts are done when they turn golden brown at the edges. Depending on how many sprouts you can fit into the air fryer basket, you may need to repeat this step multiple times.
  3. Serve in a bowl topped with shredded parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
