Homemade Yam Fries with Aioli

Yam fries are always a good idea. They are an especially good idea when watching the game with friends and family! While Julian and I will sadly not be able to watch the game with our friends this year, we still plan on enjoying the snacks!

Even though we plan on enjoying our game day favorites while we watch the Super Bowl, we want to stay on track with our healthy eating. Cue these delicious baked yam fries! Using just a little bit of olive oil and the perfect spice mix, these yam fries pack a lot of healthy flavor.

Every fry needs it's perfect dipping sauce. I have you covered with this lightened up aioli. It uses a combination of half-fat mayonnaise and non-fat plain Greek yogurt to create the perfect consistency. A blend of spices also give it the perfect, dippable flavor. You do not want to skip out on this sauce!

How to Make Homemade Yam Fries with Aioli

While the full instructions are available below, here are some tips to make the best healthy Super Bowl snack!

  • Be sure to cut your yams into even strips. This is important, because it will help your fries cook at the same time.
  • When tossing your fries, olive oil, and spices, make sure to coat all of the fries evenly.  This is important, because the oil will help ensure all of the fries get crispy.
  • Make sure you spread your yam fries evenly on the baking sheet and avoid over-crowding them.  This is important, because it will help make the fries crispy.  If you overcrowd the fries on the baking sheet, they will steam and will not crisp.
