I will admit, I am not normally a fan of apple cocktails, but these are next level! The bourbon whiskey is perfectly complemented by the notes of apple from the cider. The result is an irresistibly smooth cocktail that is the perfect sipping drink.

This apple cider cocktail is the perfect way to celebrate the end of apple season! The orange bitters from the Angostura also help to mellow how sweet the apple cider is. Also, make sure you have a good amount of ice in your cup, this is a secret to a good old fashioned. As the ice melts, it smooths the bourbon and brings the other flavors in this cocktail together beautifully!

I served these cocktails at our Thanksgiving dinner and they were very popular. These will surely be just as loved when you make them for your friends and family too!

What is An Old Fashioned?

An old fashioned is a classic cocktail that is made by muddling sugar, bitters, and water together. Then you add whiskey and a slice of orange peel. This cocktail is traditionally served in a rocks glass with ice.

The most agreed upon history of the cocktail credits The Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky for creating the cocktail. James E. Pepper was the bartender who is said to have invented the drink in Kentucky in the 1880's. He then later brought the cocktail to the bar at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. The cocktail then gained popularity and is now drank the world over!
